The group BTS set a record of winning six consecutive years by winning three awards at the ‘Billboard Music Awards’ (BBMA), one of the top three popular music awards in the United States.
BTS won 3 categories including ‘Top Duo/Group’, ‘Top Song Sales Artist’ and ‘Top Selling Song’ at the ‘2022 Billboard Music Awards’ held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA on the 16th (Korean time).
The ‘Top Song Sales Artist’ and ‘Top Selling Song’ categories are awarded for the second year in a row. With this, BTS achieved the ‘Billboard Music Awards’ award for six consecutive years since 2017.
BTS won △ ‘Top Social Artist’ in 2017 △ ‘Top Social Artist’ in 2018 △ 2 crowns in 2019 (‘Top Duo/Group’ and ‘Top Social Artist’) △ ‘Top Social Artist’ in 2020 △ 4 crowns in 2021 (‘Top Social Artist’, ‘Top Duo/Group’, ‘Top Selling Song’, ‘Top Song Sales Artist’).
Although BTS failed to achieve its own maximum of 6 crowns, it proved that ‘Butter’ is the best hit song of 2021 by winning ‘Top Song Sales Artist’ and ‘Top Selling Song’.
BTS, ahead of their comeback, could not attend the ‘Billboard Music Awards’ ceremony due to difficulties in scheduling.
On the other hand, singer AleXa made a surprise appearance at the ‘Billboard Music Awards’ awards ceremony as a privilege for the winner of the ‘American Song Contest’ (ASC).
