The group BLACKPINK will be the first K-pop artist to be the headliner on the stage of the Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival (hereinafter referred to as Hyde Park), the best music festival in the UK.
Hyde Park announced its 2023 artist lineup on the 21st (local time). The organizer said, “BLACKPINK will appear as the headliner of the main festival on July 2nd,” adding, “To mark the 10th anniversary of the festival, we put more effort into recruiting artists.” BLACKPINK, which has established itself as a world-top class, will brighten the world’s best outdoor concert hall with BLINK. As a result, BLACKPINK appeared at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the U.S. for the first time in a K-pop girl group in 2019, and will be the first Korean artist to appear on the stage at Hyde Park next year. They will be on par with prominent musicians such as headliners Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, and P!NK in 2023.
“Hyde Park” is a festival enjoyed by world-class pop stars and about 65,000 music fans, regardless of genres such as rock, hip-hop, electronic, and R&B. Since 2013, it has been held at London Hyde Park, called the “British Royal Backyard,” every summer, and has become a venue for exchanging trends in various cultures, including fashion and lifestyle, in addition to music. In the past, world-class musicians such as Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Taylor Swift, Adele, Kendrick Lamar, Elton John, and Bruno Mars took the stage.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK recently successfully finished their performance in Seoul, signaling a full-fledged world tour. Starting with a concert in Dallas, North America on the 25th and 26th, 14 performances in seven cities will be presented, and then 10 times will be held in seven cities in Europe from November to December. From 2023, it is expected to move to Asia and Oceania, attracting a total of 1.5 million viewers.
