BTS’s Jimin has made a notable entry into the Billboard ‘Hot 100’ chart with his new solo track ‘Who’.
The title track from Jimin’s second solo album ‘MUSE’, ‘Who’, has secured the 14th spot on the Billboard ‘Hot 100’ chart (August 3rd edition). This marks Jimin’s sixth solo entry on the ‘Hot 100’ chart.
The achievement is particularly impressive considering Jimin has had no official promotions for the album other than a pre-recorded performance on NBC’s popular program ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’. This underscores his immense global popularity.
According to a pre-release article by Billboard, ‘MUSE’ debuted at No. 2 on the main album chart, ‘Billboard 200’, marking Jimin’s second entry following his previous solo album ‘FACE’. This places ‘MUSE’ among the highest-charting K-pop solo albums, matching records set by Jimin’s ‘FACE’, Suga’s ‘D-DAY’, V’s ‘Layover’, and Jungkook’s ‘GOLDEN’.
Jimin first appeared on the ‘Hot 100’ as a solo artist last year with ‘VIBE (feat. Jimin of BTS)’, which peaked at 76th. He subsequently entered the chart with tracks from his solo debut album ‘FACE’, including ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’ (30th) and the title track ‘Like Crazy’ (1st). Notably, ‘Like Crazy’ became the first K-pop solo song to top the ‘Hot 100’. Jimin is the only K-pop artist to have topped the ‘Hot 100’ as both a group member and a solo artist.
Jimin has also charted with ‘Angel Pt. 1 (Feat. Jimin of BTS, JVKE & Muni Long / FAST X Soundtrack)’ from the ‘Fast X’ movie soundtrack (65th), and ‘Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. 로꼬)’ from his latest album ‘MUSE’ (88th).
According to Billboard’s official social media, ‘Who’ has topped the ‘Global 200’, ‘Global (excluding the U.S.)’, and ‘Digital Song Sales’ charts.
‘Who’ is a hip-hop R&B track that delves into the longing and confusion of missing someone never met, blending a sexy, bold beat with Jimin’s captivating vocals. The song has topped Spotify’s ‘Daily Top Songs Global’ chart for six consecutive days (July 23-28), further solidifying its global impact.
