Rookie group ILLIT (Yuna, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha) is showcasing impressive chart power on the U.S. Billboard charts.
According to the latest charts released by Billboard (dated August 3), ILLIT’s debut mini album title track “Magnetic” has maintained its position on the “Global (excluding the U.S.)” and “Global 200” charts, ranking at 31 and 54, respectively, marking 18 consecutive weeks on these charts.
“Magnetic,” the song that propelled ILLIT into the limelight as “global rising stars,” debuted in March and quickly made history. It became the first K-pop debut track to enter Billboard’s main song chart, the “Hot 100” (April 20), and the UK’s “Official Singles Top 100” (April 5). Additionally, it topped Spotify’s list for the most-streamed K-pop song overseas in the first half of the year.
ILLIT’s influence extends beyond the U.S., resonating significantly in South Korea and Japan. “Magnetic” secured the top spot on the Circle Chart’s mid-year global K-pop chart, while ILLIT claimed first place in the new artist category in Japan’s “Tower Records Music 2024 First Half Streaming Rankings,” further solidifying their global popularity.
Recognizing these achievements, Billboard named ILLIT as the “K-pop Rookie of the Month” in June, praising the group for setting unprecedented records with their debut track. Billboard highlighted ILLIT’s “addictive music, sweet vocals, mainstream choreography, and the charming individuality of the members,” which have captivated music fans worldwide.
