YG Entertainment’s rising girl group BABYMONSTER is on the brink of joining the prestigious ‘Million-Seller Club’ in their debut year, a rare achievement that showcases their swift and remarkable progress. Their journey has included the release of a debut single, a full-length album, and a seasonal song, achieving a “Triple Crown” of releases within their first year.
According to YG Entertainment, the group’s debut full album DRIP, released earlier this month, has already recorded over 820,000 pre-orders within just a week. This accomplishment marks a career high for BABYMONSTER, with nearly double the demand seen for their debut single earlier in the year. The album’s initial sales, recorded on Hanteo Chart, show a robust “first week” or “first drop” sales total of 677,961 copies, a 1.7-fold increase from their debut release (which recorded 401,287 copies).
BABYMONSTER’s impressive sales surge also underscores the rapid growth of their dedicated fanbase, both domestically and internationally. Their impact is especially felt on YouTube, where the dual music videos from DRIP, released as part of the album’s double title track strategy, amassed over 110 million views within the first week alone. Specifically, the title track “DRIP” exceeded 63 million views by November 10, while the accompanying track “CLIK CLAK” surpassed 52 million views.
With performance previews and other supplementary videos included, BABYMONSTER’s content has attracted a combined viewership of 150 million across YouTube, further solidifying their status as a powerhouse rookie group with a thriving global fandom.
