The behind-the-scenes story of BTS V and Bing Crosby’s duet “White Christmas” music video has touched fans worldwide with its heartfelt tribute.

On December 6, Bing Crosby’s official YouTube channel released the music video for “White Christmas” as an animation inspired by V’s cherished pet dog, Yeontan. The animation captures the warmth of the holiday spirit, with Bing Crosby as Santa Claus and Yeontan accompanying him on a sleigh ride, delivering gifts. The final scene, where Yeontan transforms into a star shining in the night sky, left fans deeply moved.

A Special Tribute to Yeontan

V’s love for Yeontan has always been apparent. The dog featured on the cover of V’s first solo album, Layover, and even in his Weverse and portal profile pictures. Yeontan gained international fame, with outlets like CBS’s Entertainment Tonight and the BBC naming him one of the world’s most famous pets.

Tragically, shortly before the release of the music video, V announced Yeontan’s passing. On December 2, V shared on Instagram, “Recently, Yeontan has embarked on a long journey to the stars. I’ve been thinking about how to share this, and I felt it was only right to let ARMYs know, as you have shown him so much love.” He added, “If you could think of Yeontan from time to time, it would mean a lot to me. I hope this season allows you to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you.”

Heartfelt Collaboration

Illustrator Luis Pretzel, who worked on the music video, revealed, “While working on the project, we learned the heartbreaking news of Yeontan’s passing. As a tribute, we decided to depict Yeontan as a star in the final scene.” Pretzel added, “Despite the sadness, I’m proud of how the team came together to create something beautiful.”

Yeontan’s Legacy

For seven years, Yeontan was affectionately called the “8th member of BTS” by fans, embodying a special connection between V, ARMY, and his beloved pet. Although Yeontan’s time was short, the music video immortalizes his spirit as a guiding star, resonating deeply with fans and offering a poignant reminder of love and connection during the holiday season.

“White Christmas” is now not only a festive anthem but also a touching tribute to an everlasting bond that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of ARMYs everywhere.
