GOT7 has reunited as a full group for the first time in three years, and they couldn’t be more excited. Their highly anticipated mini-album WINTER HEPTAGON, featuring nine tracks produced by the members themselves, drops on January 20 at 6 PM KST. Alongside the album release, the group is gearing up for an array of promotional activities, including music show performances and their solo concert NESTFEST on February 1-2.
In an interview shared through Kakao Entertainment, the members expressed their excitement, gratitude, and dedication to their fans, Ahgases, who they credit as the driving force behind their reunion.
Q&A with GOT7
Q: How does it feel to release a full-group album after three years? What have you been up to?
Mark: “We’re thrilled and overjoyed to return as GOT7. It’s been a while, and we’ve been working hard to prepare for this moment. I can’t wait to meet our Ahgases on stage and share these special moments.”
Q: Can you introduce WINTER HEPTAGON and its title track PYTHON? How does it reflect GOT7’s musical identity?
JAY B: “The album represents how each member shines individually, but together as seven in winter, we shine even brighter. Since we debuted in winter, it holds special meaning for us. PYTHON is a hip-hop track with a sleek, minimalistic beat and an addictive melody. It’s heavier than our usual bright and fresh sound, reflecting our versatility. As GOT7, we’ve embraced a chameleon-like identity, adapting to any concept or genre.”
Q: How was the preparation process for WINTER HEPTAGON? What unique aspects of GOT7 can fans look forward to?
Jackson: “Each member contributed to the album, showcasing not just GOT7’s collective sound but also our individual musical colors. I’m especially grateful to our leader for guiding us through this process.”
Q: With a packed schedule of promotions and a solo concert, what can fans expect?
Jinyoung: “We want our fans to remember this comeback and concert as a ‘hot and happy’ time. We’ve prepared various content and performances, and I’m looking forward to sharing them with Ahgases. I can’t wait to see everyone.”
Q: GOT7 celebrates its 11th anniversary this year. What’s the secret to staying together, and how has your perspective changed as a 12-year artist?
Youngjae: “Our fans are our biggest motivation, and the joy we feel when we’re together keeps us going. As a 12-year artist and GOT7 member, I’ve learned that protecting and supporting myself is the same as protecting and supporting the team.”
Q: What are GOT7’s next goals as a globally recognized K-pop group?
BamBam: “We hope to hold a stadium concert someday and perform in front of even more Ahgases worldwide.”
Q: Any message for your loyal fans?
Yugyeom: “To our Ahgases who have stood by us unwaveringly, we promise to keep giving back through our music and performances. Thank you for your endless love and support. We love you!”
With their new album WINTER HEPTAGON and plans for a dynamic concert series, GOT7 is ready to remind the world why they’ve been a cornerstone of K-pop for over a decade. Fans can look forward to reconnecting with the group’s evolved sound and performances as they embark on this exciting new chapter.
