The 39th Golden Disc Awards for the digital music category concluded successfully on January 4 at the PayPay Dome in Fukuoka, Japan.

The night’s highest honor went to Aespa (Karina, Ningning, Winter, Giselle), marking their return to the awards stage after three years. Aespa, who previously claimed four awards including Rookie of the Year and Artist of the Year at the 36th Golden Disc Awards, solidified their status as a leading group in K-pop. Their 2024 hits such as “Armageddon”, “Supernova”, and “Whiplash” dominated charts, ensuring their continued success.

DAY6 Secures Two Awards

Making their debut at the Golden Disc Awards, DAY6 (Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, Dowoon) shone brightly, winning both the Digital Music Bonsang and Best Band awards. The band saw a resurgence in popularity with their hit tracks “You Were Beautiful” and “Time of Our Life” climbing charts once again. Their 2024 singles, “Welcome to the Show”, “Melting”, and “HAPPY”, further cemented their reputation as K-pop’s premier band and digital music powerhouse. DAY6 also made headlines by performing at the Gocheok Sky Dome in December, affirming their dominance in the live music scene.

Rookie Awards

The Rookie of the Year award was shared by rising stars ILLIT and TOURS, who both demonstrated remarkable achievements as new faces in K-pop.

The event featured actors Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, and singer Sung Si-kyung as MCs, with Park Eun-bin presenting the Digital Music Awards.

The Golden Disc Awards for the album category will take place on January 5, with recordings of both events set to air on JTBC. The digital music segment will be broadcast on January 6 at midnight, while the album segment will air on January 7 at 1:20 AM.
