BABYMONSTER Teases First Unit Song ‘Woke Up In Tokyo’ Ahead of Debut Album Release

YG Entertainment’s rookie girl group BABYMONSTER is ramping up anticipation for their debut album DRIP by releasing previews of its tracks. On October 18, YG posted a preview of “Woke Up In Tokyo (RUKA & ASA)” on their official blog, giving fans a glimpse of the 7th track, which is the first unit song featuring members Ruka and Asa.

The track instantly captivates with its catchy intro, blending a familiar melody with a deep bass line, creating a unique and refreshing sound. The playful wordplay, using onomatopoeia, adds a fun element throughout the song, while the seamless switch between Japanese and English lyrics injects energy and dynamism into the track.

Ruka and Asa’s contrasting vocal tones—Ruka’s low tone and Asa’s high tone—create a memorable and addictive rap, with both members contributing to the lyrics. The synergy between their distinct voices and their creative input in songwriting has heightened anticipation for the full version of the song.

BABYMONSTER is set to make their official comeback on November 1 with their first full album, DRIP. The album will include 9 tracks spanning various genres, including hip-hop, dance, and R&B. Notably, the title track “DRIP” was co-composed by G-Dragon. YG Entertainment has also promised large-scale promotions, including multiple music videos, to match the grandeur of this project.
