Blackpink’s ‘The Movie’ has entered over 100 countries

Hallyu is overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic in theaters around the world. The movie ‘Blackpink The Movie (directed by Yoon-dong Oh, Soo-i Jeong)’, made to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the group Blackpink’s debut, has proven the majesty of the Korean Wave in theaters in more than 100 countries. According to CJ 4DPLEX, the distributor of ‘Blackpink The Movie’, it made the achievement of surpassing the 500,000 global cumulative audience in just 5 days after its release on the 4th. Mexico, the United States, Turkey, Brazil, and Japan have the largest number of audiences. 
‘Mogadishu’ is a movie about the life-or-death escape of people isolated from civil war in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, in 1991. ‘Mogadishu’ side announced on the 12th, “After the successful North American release last week, requests for extended screenings beyond the limited screenings are flooding in.” Regarding this, the ‘Mogadishu’ side said, “After Korea, it was released in the United States and Canada, and it has made a splendid achievement in confirming theatrical release in more than 50 countries around the world through the method of selling overseas theatrical release before the pandemic era.” The film, which was planned and produced by director Na Hong-jin of ‘The Wailing’, received great attention from overseas buyers from the beginning of production due to the meeting between director Na and Thai horror master Banjong Pisandanakhun.
