According to Spotify, the total number of streams of the 10 most streamed K-pop artists on Spotify over the past year has exceeded 16.5 billion.
BTS, Blackpink, TWICE, and Stray Kids kept their positions from 1st to 4th as the most streamed K-pop artist this year, following last year.
Among the 10 K-pop songs with the highest number of streams on Spotify in 2022, BTS and Blackpink accounted for 6 and 3 songs, respectively, and the music of the two teams, including the members’ solo songs, was counted as overwhelmingly popular.
IVE’s “LOVEDIVE,” which ranked sixth, was the only song that did not feature BTS or Blackpink in the top 10 most streamed K-pop songs.
In the case of K-pop female groups, seven groups that debuted after 2018, including ITZY, (G)I-DLE, aespa, Ive, Le Sserafim, NewJeans, and STAYC, made it to the top 10, and proved the popularity of the 4th generation girl group by holding on to it. Blackpink, Twice, and ITZY maintained their positions from 1st to 3rd, same as last year.
1st and 2nd place for the K-pop boy group with the most streams was also taken by BTS and Stray Kids, same as last year, and TREASURE rose to 10th place this year.
Kossy Ng, Head of Music, Asia, Spotify said, “Continuing from last year, through Spotify Rapped, we share and celebrate the achievements of K-pop artists over the past year with global listeners, artists, and industry partners. Spotify is working hard to help artists connect with more listeners around the world, so through this data, I was able to feel the globalization of K-pop once again.”
