The deaf community welcomes the choreography of the group BTS’ new song using international sign language. Deaf YouTuber Hamonthly was surprised while conducting a review video for the new song ‘Permission to Dance’ released by BTS on the 9th at 1 PM. She said “BTS has been shown to use sign language often. There is international sign language as a way to communicate with the world’s deaf, and it seems to be expressed. They expressed the lively feeling and the happy expression really well”. In the international sign language performance used by BTS, movements that mean ‘fun’, ‘dance’ and ‘peace’ are connected. Foreign media said, “It gives the impression of embracing the socially underprivileged, such as the deaf and blue-collar,” about BTS’ music video, which contains various ages and races in choreography incorporating sign language. BTS also promoted the comeback of ‘Butter’ and appeared on CBS’ ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ in the US in May, and was also seen doing sign language. In 2019, leader RM donated 100 million won to Seoul Samsung School, a special school, to use it for music education for deaf students. RM’s donations are being used to increase music education and artistic performance activities for deaf students.
