BTS member Jimin’s solo track “Lie” continues to break records, surpassing 250 million streams on the world’s largest music streaming platform, Spotify, as of October 10.
Originally released as part of BTS’s 2016 album Wings, “Lie” was Jimin’s first solo song and has been immensely popular since its release. In January 2022, it became the first non-title track from Wings to reach 200 million streams, marking the 53rd BTS track to achieve this milestone.
“Lie” has also made a significant impact in the U.S. market. In January 2022, it became the first BTS solo track to surpass 100 million on-demand streams in the U.S. That same year, Jimin’s “Serendipity (Full Length Edition)” and “Lie” both achieved over 500,000 unit sales, earning Jimin the distinction of being the first Korean idol to receive two Gold certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for solo tracks.
“Lie,” co-written by Jimin, was recognized by American media as one of the “13 K-pop songs only the original artist can pull off,” making it the only solo track from a boy group member on the list. The song’s powerful musical composition and Jimin’s captivating stage performances have earned him praise from music professionals, fellow idols, and dancers alike, cementing its status as a “K-pop masterpiece.”
Additionally, Jimin’s solo tracks “Lie” (250 million streams), “Serendipity (Full Length Edition)” (288 million streams), and “Filter” (457 million streams) have all surpassed the 250 million streaming mark on Spotify. As of October 10, Jimin’s profile songs have collectively achieved over 5 billion streams on the platform.
Jimin is now the 8th most-streamed Korean artist on Spotify, with his solo songs contributing 4 billion streams, making him the Korean solo artist with the highest number of solo track streams.
