BTS Jungkook Sets Personal Record with Longest Billboard Hot 100 Charting
BTS’s Jungkook has set a new personal record for the longest charting on the US Billboard Hot 100. According to the latest chart released by Billboard on March 12 (local time), the title track “Standing Next to You” from Jungkook’s solo album “GOLDEN” climbed two spots from the previous week to rank 85th on the main singles chart, the Hot 100.
“Standing Next to You” has remained in the Hot 100 rankings for 18 consecutive weeks since its debut at number 5 on November 18, 2023, setting a new record for the longest chart duration among Jungkook’s solo works. The next longest-charting song of Jungkook’s on the Hot 100 is his collaboration with Charlie Puth, “Left and Right (Feat. Jung Kook of BTS),” which stayed on the chart for 17 weeks, followed by his solo single “Seven (feat. Latto)” released in July last year, which charted for 15 weeks.
“Standing Next to You” has become the longest-charting song in the Hot 100 by a Korean solo artist in the past decade. This achievement follows “Seven,” which earned Jungkook trophies at the “2023 MTV Video Music Awards” and the “2023 MTV Europe Music Awards,” making “Standing Next to You” another mega-hit song.
“GOLDEN,” the album featuring “Standing Next to You,” has also made it to the Billboard main album chart, the Billboard 200, ranking at 90th. This album has charted on the Billboard 200 for 18 consecutive weeks, setting a new record for the longest chart duration among albums by Korean solo artists.
In the “Global 200” and “Global (Excl. US)” charts, solo songs by Jimin and Jungkook continue to enjoy popularity. Jungkook’s “Seven” (28th), “Standing Next to You” (37th), “3D (feat. Jack Harlow)” (132nd), and Jimin’s title track “Like Crazy” from his first solo album “FACE” (144th) have charted on the “Global 200.” In the “Global (Excl. US)” chart, “Seven” (21st), “Standing Next to You” (30th), “3D” (84th), and “Like Crazy” (112th) are listed.
According to the 38th Japan Gold Disc Award winners list announced by the Japan Record Association on March 13, Jungkook won the “Song of the Year by Download” in the Asia category for “Seven.”
