BTS to become the singer with the most CD sales in the US

The agency Big Hit Music reported on the 7th that BTS’ second English song ‘Butter’ topped the US Billboard Singles Chart for 6 weeks in a row. BTS was counted as the artist who sold the most CD albums in the United States in the first half of this year. According to MRC data released by Billboard on the 13th (local time) in the first half of this year (January 1 to July 1), BTS sold 573,000 CDs, the most among all artists in the United States during this period. In the real album sales ranking, which includes CDs, vinyl (LP), and cassette tapes, Swift took the first place with a total of 746,000 copies, and BTS took second place with 573,000 copies. In terms of total sales, including physical album sales plus digital album sales, Swift took first place and BTS took second place. Two BTS albums were included in the top 10 best-selling physical albums in the US in the first half of the year. BTS took the first and second places with ‘Butter’ (841,000 copies) and ‘Dynamite’ released last year (283,000 copies) in first place in digital music sales. In the first half of this year, the total amount of digital music sales in the US decreased by 20.3% compared to the same period last year. The most streamed song in the United States in the first half of this year was Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Driver’s License’.
