BTS has added another significant achievement to their record on the global streaming platform Spotify. As of March 25, the track “Black Swan” from their fourth studio album Map of the Soul: 7 has surpassed 500 million cumulative streams, according to BigHit Music.
Released as a prelude to the full album in January 2020, “Black Swan” blends trap drum beats, emotive lo-fi guitar melodies, and a captivating hook to create a haunting soundscape. The lyrics delve into BTS’s introspective reflections on the meaning of music in their lives. The track made a strong impact internationally, charting at No. 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 46 on the UK Official Singles Chart upon release.
Despite being over four years old, “Black Swan” continues to receive global acclaim, even earning a gold streaming certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan in 2024. It becomes BTS’s 14th song to exceed 500 million streams on Spotify, contributing to their impressive record of 127 songs with over 100 million streams.
BTS’s individual members have also demonstrated their solo streaming power. SUGA’s “Haegeum” from his D-Day album under Agust D recently hit the 500 million mark. Other solo hits from Jin (“The Astronaut”), Jimin (“Who,” “Like Crazy”), and Jungkook (“Seven,” “Standing Next to You,” “3D,” and “Left and Right”) have also crossed the same milestone, underscoring BTS’s collective and individual global influence.
