K-pop solo artist Chuu has made a poignant comeback with her third mini-album, Only Cry in the Rain, released on April 21 at 6 PM KST via major online music platforms. Marking her return after 10 months since her last album Strawberry Rush, Chuu offers a message of warmth and consolation aimed at today’s youth.
The new album captures a journey through intangible emotions and memories, emphasizing how these overlooked sentiments shape who we are. With five tracks — including the title track “Only Cry in the Rain,” “Back in Town,” “Kiss a Kitty,” “Je t’aime,” and “No More” — the album spans various genres while highlighting Chuu’s signature emotional vocals, reinforcing her evolving identity as a solo artist.
The title track, “Only Cry in the Rain,” sends a message that it’s okay to be emotionally honest, at least when it rains. Set to a dreamy synth-pop sound rooted in new wave, the song balances an upbeat rhythm with melancholy undertones, allowing Chuu’s tender voice to shine and deepening her musical persona.
Ahead of the album’s release, Chuu held a private listening session at Seongsu-dong’s Movieland from April 19 to 21. The event, styled like the music video’s mood board, offered fans an immersive, multi-sensory preview of the album’s themes, heightening anticipation.
Chuu’s Only Cry in the Rain is now available on all major streaming platforms.
