Girl group (G)I-DLE has begun to strengthen its ground for global expansion.
‘HWAA’, their title track of the fourth mini-album released last month, “I burn,” has topped the list in various music sources and is sweeping the top in music broadcasting programs.
Initially, (G)I-DLE was planning to start global expansion last year, including partnership with Republic Records, a label under Universal Music in the United States, and conducting world tours in 32 cities around the world. Unexpectedly, due to the COVID-19, their first overseas event was delayed for a while.
‘HWAA’ was ranked first on the Chinese Wangi Music Korean chart for two weeks, 8th on the US Billboard’s ‘World Digital Song Sales’ chart, and the fourth album, ‘I Burn’, also topped the iTunes’Top Album’ chart in 52 countries.
The agency is releasing English and Chinese versions of songs and Lyric Video (video composed of lyrics) in Korea, and is targeting overseas fans with customized strategies for global expansion.
