‘HYBE Labels’ dominates the Japanese music market… From BTS to Seventeen

HYBE label musicians such as BTS, Seventeen, Tomorrow X Together, and ENHYPEN are sweeping the Japanese music market. BTS topped the Oricon ‘Weekly Album Ranking’ for three weeks in a row with their Japanese best album ‘BTS, THE BEST’ released in June. ‘BTS, THE BEST’ has surpassed the cumulative shipment of 1 million copies and obtained the ‘Million’ certification from the Record Association of Japan. It has been at the top of the Oricon ‘Weekly Streaming Ranking’ for 8 consecutive weeks. On Spotify in Japan, ‘Permission to Dance’, ‘Butter’ and ‘Dynamite’ rose to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, respectively, showing the popularity of BTS in Japan at a glance. Seventeen’s 8th mini-album ‘Your Choice’, released in June, surpassed 250,000 copies in cumulative shipment and received ‘Platinum’ certification from the Japan Record Association. With its release, it topped the Oricon ‘Daily Album Ranking’ and topped the Japanese iTunes album chart. SEVENTEEN’s ‘Hitorijanai’, the only K-pop artist album in the top 10 singles rankings in the first half of this year, also proves the local interest. SEVENTEEN sold 314,765 copies of the single, becoming the first overseas male artist to surpass 200,000 copies in the first week of sales for three consecutive works. Tomorrow X Together, starting with the ‘Dream Chapter: ETERNITY’ released in May last year, and up to ‘Chapter of Chaos: FREEZE’ released in May, topped the Oricon ‘Weekly Album Ranking’ with four consecutive albums. ENHYPEN, the youngest member of HYBE Labels, recorded sales of 200,000 copies with their Japanese debut single ‘BORDER: ?い’, and went straight to No. 1 on Oricon’s ‘Weekly Singles Ranking’ on July 19th.
