Girl group ILLIT has achieved a significant milestone with their song “Magnetic” on the world’s largest music streaming platform, Spotify. According to their agency, Belif Lab, on September 19, the title track from ILLIT’s debut mini album SUPER REAL ME surpassed 400 million streams as of September 17, just 176 days after its release on March 25. This marks the fastest time a debut song by a K-pop group has reached this number of streams on Spotify.
“Magnetic” has dominated both domestic and international music charts. It became the first K-pop debut song to enter both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 (on April 20) and the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100 (on April 5). The song has remained on Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts for 25 consecutive weeks and continues to rank highly on domestic weekly charts like Genie, Melon, and Bugs.
With its sustained popularity, “Magnetic” has become the most-streamed K-pop song released in the first half of 2024 on Spotify outside of Korea. It was also listed among TikTok’s “Songs of the Summer 2024,” ranking 6th in Korea and 5th in Japan. The track is praised for its fresh and bold portrayal of teenage love, showcasing ILLIT’s youthful sound and unpredictable rhythms.
