IVE’s Gaeul has shared a behind-the-scenes look at the choreography creation for their song “TKO,” a track from the group’s mini album IVE EMPATHY. Starship Entertainment released a vlog titled “[IVE LOG] Gaeul Sunbae’s TKO Choreography Vlog Has Arrived” on the group’s official YouTube channel on April 7, drawing fans’ attention.

The video captures Gaeul brainstorming and crafting the choreography alongside dancer and choreographer Shimizu. Gaeul proposed unique concepts like creating a “ring” to mimic a face-off between her and fellow member Rei, and expressed thoughtful concerns about maintaining impact in the dance break. She demonstrated meticulous attention to detail while designing the overall routine.

Gaeul worked on different song sections, tailoring movements to match lyrics like “step hard” and “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” She also considered each member’s strengths, especially suggesting a slower tempo to highlight Rei’s precise dance style. After refining the choreography with Shimizu, Gaeul filmed a reference video with dancers, earning praise from fellow IVE members who were impressed by her creative efforts.

Gaeul revealed that she initially recommended “TKO” for their recent fan concert and expressed interest in choreographing it herself. She shared that the term “TKO” (technical knockout) inspired a bold, powerful approach, diverging from IVE’s usual elegance to convey a new, assertive vibe.

IVE will continue their IVE SCOUT fan concert series with performances in four Japanese cities, beginning in Aichi on April 12–13.
