K-Pop keywords in 2021

Kakao Entertainment’s global representative K-pop media 1theK analyzed data based on 1theK’s 31 million worldwide subscribers and announced that the keyword for the global K-pop trend in 2021 is #India fan surge #Rookie girl groups #Fanbase diversification.

As a result of checking the visit and viewing data of YouTube channel subscribers, 1theK analyzed that global fans’ interest in K-pop has increased even further in 2021.

The proportion of overseas views among the number of views in 2021 also recorded an all-time high of 80% since the opening of the 1theK YouTube channel, revealing that global fans’ attention to K-pop is continuously rising.

In 2021, the average monthly views of 1theK YouTube channel by Indian subscribers increased by 77% compared to the previous year, and the monthly average views of the 1theK Originals channel, where music and entertainment content other than official music videos are uploaded, also increased by a whopping 266% compared to the previous year.

An 1theK official said, “The interest in K-pop content in India this year is really explosive. It is expected that it will become a key region for global K-pop content consumption in the future.”

In fact, 1theK subscribers in Indonesia surged by more than 40% last year, and based on this, in 2021, 1theK channel has grown rapidly as a major K-pop consumption market, accounting for more than 10% of the total number of views.
