“Once again, I reflected on my life. In the end, the answers came through song and dance.”
BTS’s J-Hope elevated anticipation for the main series by releasing the teaser trailer for the documentary series ‘HOPE ON THE STREET’ on the team’s official SNS at midnight (KST) on the 29th.
The teaser trailer begins with footage of J-Hope practicing choreography during his trainee days, overlaid with current narration by J-Hope himself. “I had forgotten about the dance I loved so much. I need to look back at the dances I’ve done.” Standing at the starting point once again, J-Hope speaks of reflecting on his life through ‘dance’, his root.
The teaser then introduces three keywords: ‘DANCE’, ‘DREAM’, ‘LEARN’. ‘DANCE’ features scenes of him performing and practicing with a dance crew before debut, while ‘DREAM’ captures the dreamlike moment of becoming the first Korean artist to headline the large-scale music festival ‘Lollapalooza’ in Chicago in 2022.
The teaser concludes with ‘LEARN’. J-Hope spent meaningful time communicating through ‘dance’ with various genre dancers active in cities around the world. He shared his thoughts, saying, “The most important thing seems to be learning. Not just in dance, but in life and in many ways, it was part of the learning process…”
‘HOPE ON THE STREET’ is a documentary that follows J-Hope, now in his 12th year since debut, as he uses dance as a medium to explore his past, present, and future in search of his dreams. Alongside his dance teacher and Popping dance world champion B-Girl Lyn, J-Hope travels to places such as Osaka, Paris, New York, Seoul, and Gwangju, gaining new insights through dance.
The documentary series consists of a total of 6 episodes, with the first episode premiering at midnight on March 28th. The series is available for viewing in 240 countries/regions worldwide through the online video service (OTT) TVING and the American online video service Prime Video.
The documentary was produced in conjunction with the album ‘HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1’. The title track ‘NEURON (with Gaeko, Yoon Mirae)’ conveys J-Hope’s musical roots, life’s motivations, and expectations for a new start. Thus, J-Hope’s life encompassing music and video are organically connected, intending to present his message in a more multidimensional manner. ‘HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1’ will be released worldwide at 1 PM on March 29th.
