NCT’s Mark has made a powerful solo debut with his first album The Firstfruit, immediately securing first place on major music shows. On April 18, he took the top spot on KBS2’s Music Bank with his title track “1999,” following an earlier win on MBC M’s Show! Champion, achieving two music show trophies in his debut week.

Expressing gratitude, Mark said, “Just releasing this solo album was already a dream come true, but winning an award makes it even more special. I want to thank all the staff who made this possible, everyone who supported me, and especially our fans, Czennies, for always being my strength.”

“1999” blends grand orchestration with funky guitars, brass, and whistling, creating an upbeat pop sound. The lyrics reflect Mark’s joy in reaching this solo milestone, likening it to reliving the year he was born — 1999 — and declaring his ambition to become a pop icon of the century’s end.

The album has achieved half-million seller status and topped multiple domestic and international charts, including South Korea’s daily and weekly album rankings, QQ Music in China, Japan’s AWA, Spotify’s Global Top Album Debut, and the UK’s Official Download and Singles Sales charts.

Mark will continue his music show promotions this weekend, appearing on MBC’s Show! Music Core and SBS’s Inkigayo.
