K-pop girl group NewJeans has achieved another milestone as the music video for their song “Cookie” has surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.
According to their agency, ADOR, the “Cookie” music video, one of the triple title tracks from NewJeans’ debut album New Jeans, reached the 100 million mark on August 13 at 7:19 PM KST. This makes it the group’s fifth video to cross this milestone, following the performance versions of “Hype Boy,” “OMG,” “Super Shy,” and the performance video for “Ditto.”
Released in August 2022, “Cookie” is a track characterized by its minimal hip-hop beat, catchy sound, and playful lyrics. The music video is noted for its clean, simple backdrop that allows the focus to remain on the members’ performances. The choreography, which showcases the group’s natural groove, further enhances the song’s hip vibe.
The debut album was a significant hit upon release, with The New York Times naming “Cookie” as one of the “Best Songs of 2022,” praising its “unpretentious comfort.”
In addition to this achievement, NewJeans has also been recognized by Variety, which included them in the “2024 Power of Young Hollywood Impact List,” making them the only K-pop female artists on the list. Moreover, NewJeans has been nominated for the “Best K-Pop” category at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards for their hit “Super Shy,” marking their second consecutive year of nominations at the prestigious event, further solidifying their global influence.
