Red Velvet Wendy is going as solo. At 2 pm on the 5th, a showcase was held to commemorate the release of Wendy’s first solo album ‘Like Water’. Wendy’s solo album has been seven years since her debut in 2014. Wendy is getting a lot of attention because she is the first member of Red Velvet to go solo. She said, “As I prepared the album, I gradually realized it. In Red Velvet, I tried to express colors as a member of the group. As a solo singer, I thought I had to show my own color, so I melted it in the album harder. The members also sent me a message of support and monitored every time they saw it.”
The title song ‘Like Water’ is an acoustic pop ballad featuring Wendy’s pure vocals. The lyrics depicting Wendy’s autobiographical story convey a message of sympathy and consolation that it is okay to take a break from time to time when we are tired of life. Wendy said, “This album itself is close to my story and has a warm sensibility. I want to convey comfort and sympathy to many people with my voice. I wanted to share my gratitude for the fans’ love and consolation, so I decided to make it the title song. ‘Like Water’ is a song that conveys the consolation and sympathy of the future.” Wendy said, “‘Best Friend’ was originally a solo song, but I asked Seulgi to become a duet song.”
Wendy will host a live solo debut countdown ‘Wendy’s New Chapter: Like Water’ on Naver V Live and YouTube’s Red Velvet channel at 5 pm on this day(local time in Korea).
