NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) is welcoming their second winter with their fandom, Bunnies, by releasing their first remix album ‘NJWMX (NewJeans Winter Mix).’ The album, set to release on December 19th at 6 PM across all music sites, coincides with the first anniversary of NewJeans’ winter anthem ‘Ditto.’ The release of ‘NJWMX’ signifies NewJeans’ hope for the Bunnies to spend a warm holiday season with their songs.
Through their agency ADOR, NewJeans shared their sentiments about the album release, expressing their wish for fans to reminisce about the special moments shared together while listening to the remixed versions of their popular songs from the past year. The ‘NJWMX’ album includes 12 tracks in total: remixes of two songs from their single album ‘OMG’ (‘Ditto,’ ‘OMG’), remixes of four songs from their debut album ‘New Jeans’ (‘Attention,’ ‘Hype Boy,’ ‘Cookie,’ ‘Hurt’), and six instrumental tracks.
Each remix on ‘NJWMX’ brings a unique twist to the original tracks. The ‘Ditto’ remix is reimagined with a cozy acoustic sound, reminiscent of a winter night’s campfire. The ‘OMG’ remix employs sleigh bell sounds and an Afro hip-hop rhythm, creating a special ‘NewJeans-style winter.’ The ‘Attention’ remix adds percussive elements to the original’s refreshing vibe, while ‘Hype Boy’ is transformed into a 1990s R&B style track. The remixes of ‘Cookie’ and ‘Hurt’ incorporate lo-fi and bluegrass styles, respectively, enhancing the winter mood.
Meanwhile, NewJeans’ songs have consistently ranked in domestic and international charts, with their winter anthems ‘Ditto’ and ‘OMG’ experiencing a resurgence in popularity, especially on major music charts as the year-end approaches. This demonstrates the lasting impact and appeal of NewJeans’ music, both in Korea and globally.
