SF9 recently opened up about their feelings regarding promoting as a 5-member group for their upcoming album. In an interview with SPOTV News ahead of the release of their 14th mini-album FANTASY on the 16th, the group expressed some of the challenges they’ve faced due to scheduling conflicts.
FANTASY marks the beginning of a new trilogy series for SF9, serving as a fresh journey dedicated to their fan club, also named Fantasy. The album is filled with heartfelt messages from the members to their fans, featuring tracks like the title song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” along with “Cruel Love,” “Just,” “My Fantasia,” and “Melodrama,” all showcasing the distinct musical style of SF9.
Due to military service commitments, Daewon and Jaeyoon are not participating in this comeback, and Zuho, who recently changed agencies, is also absent. As a result, SF9 will promote as a 5-member group. Speaking on this, Yoo Taeyang shared, “We’ve adjusted the choreography and part distribution to suit the five members, focusing on highlighting each individual’s role, face, and unique charm. We wanted to ensure that each member stands out, and this time, we’ll perform without backup dancers to focus solely on the five of us.”
Despite the absence of some members, the group has received strong support from those unable to participate. Youngbin mentioned, “Although it’s disappointing when our schedules don’t align, we all understand and support each other’s individual paths. However, we feel it’s our duty to ensure that our fans, Fantasy, don’t feel any gaps or emptiness during this time. Our goal is to fill that void.”
Yoo Taeyang added, “The members in the military gave us positive feedback as soon as they saw the teasers, saying how cool and impressive it looked, which boosted our confidence.”
FANTASY will be released on various online music platforms at 6 PM KST on the 16th.
