Around 100 million K-pop related contents have been uploaded on TikTok in the past year.
TikTok, together with music startup Space Auditor, released the ‘2021 K-Pop TikTok Infographic’ on the 10th, which analyzed the contents of K-Pop videos uploaded to TikTok from October 2018 to the end of September this year.
On TikTok, 97.87 million contents using K-pop were posted in the past year, which is 2.9 times higher than 33.5 million two years ago (October 2018 to September 2019).
Of the K-pop videos uploaded in the past year, 92.8% were created in regions other than Korea, and the videos using K-pop music sources from Indonesia accounted for the most at 16.4%, followed by the Philippines (13.5%) and the United States (8.7%). Korea (7.2%) ranked fourth.
The K-pop artist with the most cumulative followers was BTS.
The singer with the highest follower growth rate over the past 6 months was StayC, whose followers increased fivefold in half a year.
