The US Billboard Magazine focused on CL, which is about to comeback with ‘+ALPHA+’ in the first half of 2021.
On the 14th, Billboard titled ‘K-Pop Queen CL on Her Indie Comeback: ‘My Album Is Like Me Writing a Book’’ and reported her in-depth story including the current situation.
CL siad, “Of course, it won’t be the same (as before). But I want to start here.” She expressed her firm determination to start as an independent artist.
Billboard quoted Hae Joo Kim, a K-pop expert and assistant professor at the University of Berkeley’s Professional Music Department, saying, “She expanded the image of the female K-pop idol. Her brand of unapologetic cool was refreshing and contributed in paving a way for other K-pop artists to follow — Blackpink has ostensibly inherited, and further developed, their image of haughty cool.”
CL raised expectations for the new album by saying, “It will 100%” draw from the ups and downs of the past few years,” and “That’s what’s exciting about being independent.”
