BTS, overwhelmingly 1st place in Hallyu content… worldwide influence

 

According to the ‘2021 Global Hallyu Trend’ published on the 3rd by the Korea Institute for International Cultural Exchange (Chairman Gil-Hwa Jung, hereafter referred to as KOFICE), the influence of BTS was overwhelmingly number one among Hallyu content. This year, we are realizing the ripple effect of BTS with ‘Butter’. According to the latest chart released by Billboard (as of August 7), BTS has maintained the top spot on the main single chart ‘Hot 100’ for 10 weeks in a row. ‘Butter’ handed over the top spot to ‘Permission to Dance’ on the chart on the 24th of July, and then climbed to the top again for two weeks in a row. ‘Butter’ topped the charts for 7 consecutive weeks in ‘Song of the Summer’, which aggregates the number of streaming, radio broadcasts, and music sales. It ranked 6th on ‘Billboard Global’ (excluding the United States), which compiles streaming and sales volume in more than 200 countries/regions around the world, and ranked 8th on ‘Billboard Global 200’. Tourists are gathering at Maengbang Beach in Samcheok, Gangwon-do, where BTS filmed the album jacket for ‘Butter’. Samcheok City has prepared a photo zone that reproduces BTS photos by installing beach volleyball nets, referee chairs, parasols, and sunbeds. Fans also paid attention to the area around Mt. Eulwang, west of Yeongjong Island, Incheon, where the group dance scene of ‘Permission to Dance’ was filmed. According to the Incheon Economic Administration, about 30 works, including dramas, movies, music videos, and advertisements, were filmed in the Eulwangsan area only between March and July of last year. Fans also took out their London photos and posted the hashtag ‘#LondonwithTae’ together, making it a world-wide real-time trending.
