BTS member V’s debut official solo album, ‘Layover,’ has shattered records in the K-pop industry by selling over 1.67 million copies on its release day, marking the highest ever single-day sales for a K-pop solo artist.
According to the music charts on September 9th, ‘Layover’ recorded a staggering 1,672,138 copies in sales on its first day, becoming a million-seller on its debut day and also setting a new record for the first-week sales of a solo K-pop artist.
As a result, the top three positions for first-week sales among K-pop solo artists are all now held by BTS members. Following V’s ‘Layover,’ Jimin’s ‘FACE’ sold 1.45 million copies in its first week, and Suga’s ‘D-DAY’ sold 1.28 million copies.
The title track of the album, ‘Slow Dancing,’ achieved the impressive feat of reaching number one on iTunes’ ‘Top Songs Chart’ in 75 countries worldwide as of 7 AM on the release day. Additionally, ‘Layover’ claimed the top spot on iTunes’ ‘Top Albums Chart’ in 65 countries worldwide.
