BTS’s Jungkook Becomes Most Searched K-pop Idol on Google in 2023

Jungkook of BTS has emerged as the most searched K-pop idol on Google in 2023. Renowned sources like the ‘World Music Awards’ (WMA), known as ‘Europe’s Billboard,’ ‘About Music,’ which provides real-time music chart updates, and the international media outlet ‘Music Mundial’ have all reported Jungkook’s top position in Google searches for the year. He also topped the WMA’s list of ‘Most Searched K-pop Male Idols on Google in 2023.’

Jungkook, who embarked on his first official solo endeavor with ‘Seven’ in July last year, has made a significant impact in the pop world. His successive hits, including ‘3D,’ marked his emergence as a formidable pop star, dominating major global charts like Billboard, the UK Official Chart, and Spotify. Following the release of his first full solo album ‘Golden,’ Jungkook collaborated with top-tier artists, solidifying his status as a global trendsetter.

His solo activities have included appearances on U.S. and UK television shows like ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ for the ‘2023 Summer Concert Series,’ BBC’s live talk show ‘The One Show,’ and as the first Korean solo artist to headline the ‘2023 Global Citizen Festival’ in New York, where he delivered a spectacular performance. Following ‘Golden’s’ release, Jungkook showcased his talents on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ iHeartRadio, and Audacy with remarkable live performances.

Jungkook also held a guerrilla performance at Times Square’s TSX Entertainment outdoor venue in New York, drawing a massive crowd and becoming the second artist to perform there after rapper and singer-songwriter Post Malone. His global popularity was further cemented by his wins at major international music awards in 2023, including ‘Song of Summer’ at the ‘MTV Video Music Awards’ and ‘Best Song’ at the ‘MTV Europe Music Awards,’ as well as ‘Top Global K-Pop Song’ at the ‘Billboard Music Awards.’

Additionally, Jungkook was recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the ‘200 Greatest Singers of All Time’ and was listed as one of Billboard’s ‘Greatest Pop Stars of 2023.’ He continued to make his mark globally, being named ‘Artist of the Summer’ for two consecutive years by Audacy and as the most famous musician born in 1997 by Stacker. Previously, from 2017 to 2021, Jungkook had been the most searched K-pop idol on Google for five consecutive years.

Beyond Google, Jungkook has been the most searched K-pop idol on YouTube globally for five consecutive years, the top K-pop star on Tumblr for the same duration, and the most searched K-pop idol in the U.S., UK, and Canada on Pinterest.
