BTS’s V, with his debut solo album ‘Layover,’ has charted for five consecutive weeks on the New Zealand album chart, setting a record as the longest-charting Korean solo artist.
V’s ‘Layover’ made its debut on the ‘Official New Zealand Music Charts’ in 3rd place on September 18, a record high for a Korean solo artist. It continued to rank within the top 20 for five consecutive weeks, establishing itself as the longest-charting Korean solo artist. All the tracks from the ‘Layover’ album also secured spots on the ‘HOT 40 Singles’ chart, showcasing its strong streaming and sales power.
Since releasing his solo album ‘Layover’ on September 8, V has been proving his global popularity by charting not only in South Korea but also on music charts worldwide. Using data from various sources, the ‘Hanterchart,’ a comprehensive chart, showed that he conquered the charts in the United States, Japan, and China, ultimately securing the top position in the United States for four consecutive weeks, demonstrating his immense solo power.
In addition to his global chart-topping success, the music video for the track ‘Love Me Again’ achieved simultaneous first place rankings on the ‘UK Tidal Top Video’ and ‘Apple Music UK Video’ charts, making him the first Korean solo artist to accomplish this feat. ‘Layover’ also reached high positions on charts across Europe, such as 4th place on the ‘Top 100 Albums’ and ‘Top 100 Download Albums’ charts in Germany, 6th place on the SNEP France ‘Album Top 150’ chart, 12th place on the Billboard Italy ‘Top Albums’ chart, and 2nd place on both the ‘IFPI Greece Top Albums’ chart and the ‘Billboard Greece Album Chart,’ along with the 4th position on the ‘Physical Albums’ chart in Sweden, and 2nd place on both the ‘Top Albums’ and ‘Physical Albums’ charts in Poland, further solidifying his prowess as a solo artist in the European charts.
