J-Hope Makes History with “HOPE ON THE STREET” VOL.1, Achieving Top 5 on the US Billboard 200

J-Hope of BTS continues to write new records for K-pop solo artists on the Billboard charts, even during BTS’s military hiatus. His special album, “HOPE ON THE STREET” VOL.1, released on March 29, has secured the 5th spot on the Billboard 200 chart for the week of April 13, according to Billboard. This marks J-Hope’s second top 10 entry on the Billboard 200, following his previous solo album “Jack In The Box,” which peaked at 6th place in September last year. J-Hope is the first K-pop solo artist to have more than one album reach the top 10 of the Billboard 200, setting a personal best with this latest entry.

The Billboard 200 ranking is determined by combining traditional album sales with streaming equivalent albums (SEA) and track equivalent albums (TEA). “HOPE ON THE STREET” VOL.1 has sold an equivalent of 50,000 units, with 44,000 in physical album sales, 4,000 in SEA, and 2,000 in TEA.

J-Hope has now placed three albums on the Billboard 200, beginning with his first mixtape “Hope World” in March 2018, which debuted at 38th place. The members of BTS, having achieved six number 1 spots on the Billboard 200 as a group, hold the top 6 positions for K-pop solo artists on the chart. Jimin, Suga, V, and Jungkook have all secured the 2nd place with their solo albums, while RM reached 3rd place. Jin, the only member yet to release a solo album due to military service, is anticipated to release his own after his discharge in June.
