BLACKPINK’s “Ice Cream” MV Surpasses 900 Million Views on YouTube

BLACKPINK’s “Ice Cream” music video has reached a milestone of over 900 million views on YouTube, as announced by YG Entertainment. Released in August 2020, it took approximately 3 years and 7 months for the video to achieve this feat. This achievement adds to BLACKPINK’s record as the K-pop artist with the most videos surpassing 900 million views, now totaling nine videos. Other notable songs by BLACKPINK that have reached similar viewership include “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” “BOOMBAYAH,” “How You Like That,” “As If It’s Your Last,” Jennie’s “SOLO,” and Lisa’s performance video for “Money.”

“Ice Cream,” characterized by its simple rhythm and lively sound, marked a new concept for BLACKPINK featuring a cute and fresh style, further amplified by their collaboration with Selena Gomez. The song received positive feedback for expanding BLACKPINK’s global fandom and musical range. It achieved remarkable success on various global charts, securing the top spot on the iTunes Worldwide Chart immediately after its release. On the Billboard Hot 100, it peaked at 13th place, setting a new record for the highest position achieved by a K-pop girl group at that time and remained on the chart for eight consecutive weeks.

“Ice Cream” is part of BLACKPINK’s first full album “THE ALBUM,” which also made significant achievements by reaching the 2nd place on both the US Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chart, setting a new record for K-pop girl groups.

In addition, BLACKPINK successfully concluded their “BORN PINK” world tour, the largest-scale world tour by a K-pop girl group, covering 34 cities with 66 shows. Their performances as the first Asian artist headliners at the Coachella Festival (with a combined audience of 250,000 over two days) and the UK’s Hyde Park (65,000 attendees) further solidified their status as a world-class act, connecting with over 2.115 million fans globally.
