NewJeans is experiencing a surge in popularity, climbing significantly on the Spotify global charts. According to the latest chart released on May 27 by Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, NewJeans’ double single ‘How Sweet’ and its title track of the same name rose by 57 places to reach 81st on the Spotify Global ‘Daily Top Songs’ chart dated May 26.
This impressive jump stands out, especially considering the chart is filled with new releases from pop stars like Billie Eilish. ‘How Sweet’ had the largest upward movement among the songs on the chart that day.
In addition to their global success, NewJeans continues to dominate domestic charts like Melon, Bugs, and FLO, where both ‘How Sweet’ and the B-side ‘Bubble Gum’ maintain top positions. The album also sold over 810,000 copies on its first day, setting the group on track to achieve their fourth ‘million-seller’ title.
The music video for ‘How Sweet’ is also gaining traction, topping YouTube’s global daily popular music video chart for two consecutive days (May 24 and May 25), demonstrating worldwide interest.
NewJeans has been engaging with fans through a series of university festival performances, starting with Korea University on May 25 and continuing with six more festivals over a week. The proceeds from these performances will be donated entirely to charity.
Additionally, NewJeans is partnering with digital IP entertainment company IPX (formerly Line Friends) to celebrate the release of ‘How Sweet’ with a pop-up store. The pop-up will be held at Line Friends Square in Sinsa from June 5 to June 17.
As part of their promotion for their upcoming Japanese debut single ‘Supernatural’, NewJeans will also host pop-up stores at Line Friends Square in Myeongdong (June 26 to July 10) and Shibuya (June 26 to July 15). These stores will feature collaborative merchandise with artists like Takashi Murakami and Hiroshi Fujiwara, enriched by IPX’s creative input.
