Variety noted that the chairman Bang of Big Hit Entertainment is not only making music, but also diversifying his business.
Referring to the fact that he developed Weverse, a technology-based global fan community platform, and acquired several labels, including game companies Superb, Source Music, and Pledis Entertainment, “40% of the sales volume in the top 100 album sales in Korea in the first half of this year was from the artists of the Labels that Big Hit acquired. When the company did an IPO last October, it’s corporate value was around 8 trillion won.”
This year, Big Hit, led by Chairman Bang, has solidified a multi-label system that includes Billip Lab, Source Music, Pledis Entertainment, and KOZ Entertainment, while demonstrating its global capabilities as a content powerhouse to the global market.
BTS’ digital single ‘Dynamite’ topped the Billboard ‘Hot 100′ a total of 3 times, followed by BTS’ album ‘BE’ and their title track ‘Life Goes On’, which entered into ‘Billboard 200’ and ‘Hot 100’ in the same week.
