BTS Jungkook Becomes First and Only K-Pop Solo Artist to Surpass 1 Billion Streams on Spotify in 2024

BTS’s Jungkook has illuminated his global presence by surpassing 1 billion streams on Spotify this year, marking a significant milestone in his career. The World Music Awards (WMA) announced via their official account that Jungkook reached over 1 billion streams (before filtering) on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, making him the first and only K-pop solo artist to achieve this feat in 2024. This accomplishment has spotlighted Jungkook’s power and set a remarkable record.

Recently, Jungkook established a new record as the first and only K-pop solo artist with two songs (‘Seven’ and ‘Left and Right’) surpassing 900 million streams on Spotify, a milestone second only among K-pop artists. He also set a new record for the most songs by an Asian solo artist to exceed 400 million streams on Spotify, with a total of six tracks (‘Seven’, ‘3D’, ‘Standing Next to You’, ‘Dreamers’, ‘Left and Right’, and ‘Euphoria’) achieving this.

His solo album ‘GOLDEN’, released in November last year, became the first K-pop solo artist album and the fastest studio album by an Asian artist to exceed 3 billion streams (before filtering) on Spotify. Moreover, Jungkook has recorded the fastest 5.2 billion streams (before filtering) across all credits on his Spotify profile, setting a precedent as the first K-pop solo artist to achieve this.

Jungkook’s single ‘Seven’ broke Spotify records by reaching 1 billion streams in the shortest time of 108 days and set another record as the debut song to reach 1.4 billion streams in the shortest period of 220 days. In Spotify’s ‘2023 Wrapped’ campaign announced on December 1st, Jungkook accumulated a total of 2.2 billion streams (the highest among K-pop solo artists) and 99.4 million listeners throughout the year. ‘Seven’ also ranked 4th in the ‘Top Tracks of 2023’ category, being one of the most-streamed songs worldwide in 2023.

With just three songs (‘Dreamers’, ‘Left and Right’, ‘Stay Alive’), Jungkook achieved 1 billion streams (before filtering) on Spotify in the shortest time for a K-pop solo artist. ‘Seven’ reached the highest weekly streaming count of 89,748,171 (after filtering) among global male artist tracks on Spotify’s Global Chart and set four world records, including the fastest to reach 100 million streams (after filtering) and the quickest to achieve 1 billion streams (before filtering), officially recognized and registered by the Guinness World Records.
