BTS Jungkook’s ‘Seven’ Breaks Record with Fastest 1.4 Billion Streams on Spotify, Setting a New History

BTS’s Jungkook’s single “Seven” has achieved a record-breaking 1.4 billion streams on Spotify in the shortest time ever for a debut song.

Released in July last year, Jungkook’s solo single “Seven” recently surpassed 1.4 billion streams (before filtering) on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.

“Seven” recorded 1.4 billion streams in just 220 days, breaking the record previously held by global pop star Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License,” which reached 1.4 billion streams in 475 days.

With this achievement, Jungkook has made a significant impact, setting records for the fastest time to reach 1.4 billion streams for a song released in 2023, the shortest time for an Asian artist’s song, and the first K-pop solo artist to reach this milestone.

Previously, “Seven” had broken another Spotify record by surpassing 1 billion streams in just 108 days. Moreover, it has ranked first in Spotify’s ‘Daily Top Songs Global’ chart for a total of 71 days, entered the chart for over 220 days, and remained in the ‘Weekly Top Songs Global’ chart for 31 weeks after achieving first place for 9 weeks.

Jungkook’s “Seven” has set four world records, including the fastest time to reach 1 billion streams (before filtering) on Spotify, the highest weekly streaming count among global male artist tracks with 89,748,171 streams (after filtering), and the fastest time to reach 100 million streams (after filtering). It has also been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records for holding the most number one hit songs (3) on the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI)’s official ‘MENA’ chart.

“Seven” has won awards at major music ceremonies, including the ‘Song of Summer’ category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA), the ‘Top Global K-Pop Song’ at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), and the ‘Best Song’ category at the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA).

Additionally, “Seven” has been selected for ‘The 100 Best Songs of 2023: Staff Picks’ by Billboard and the Official Charts, as well as ‘The best songs and albums of 2023: Official Charts staff picks’. It was also included in Rolling Stone’s ‘The 100 Best Songs of 2023’ and named ‘Bop Of The Year 2023’ by Audacy, one of the largest radio station groups in the US.

“Seven” debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and remained on the chart for 15 weeks. It held the number 1 spot on Billboard’s ‘Global (Excluding US)’ for 9 consecutive weeks and on the ‘Global 200’ for 7 consecutive weeks, maintaining a continuous presence on both charts for 31 weeks.

The music video for “Seven,” released on the official HYBE Labels YouTube channel, is rapidly approaching 350 million views.

Recently, Jungkook won the ‘Male Artist of the Year’ award at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards (PCAs), becoming the first and only Asian artist to achieve this honor.
