BTS’s Jungkook Achieves Four Awards at MMA2023, Demonstrating Strong Solo Power

Jungkook of BTS has proven his formidable solo power by winning four awards at the ‘Melon Music Awards 2023’ (MMA2023). At the event held on the 2nd, he won ‘Best Solo Male’, ‘Hot Trend Award’, ‘Top 10 of the Year’, and ‘Millions TOP 10’. This achievement follows his previous success on Melon’s weekly popularity chart TOP 20, where he secured the top spot for four consecutive weeks with his solo single ‘Seven’, and another week with his self-composed song ‘Still With You’, totaling nine times at the top.

Additionally, Jungkook set several impressive records in 2023. His single ‘Seven’ reached the top of Melon’s ‘Top 100’ main chart in just 11 hours, a record time for a solo artist. He was the first male idol in 2023 to top the ‘Top 100’ chart and the first male artist to reach number one on Melon’s weekly chart. He also achieved the fastest 100,000 ‘likes’ milestone in the same year.

Jungkook’s accolades extend beyond the MMA2023. He was a double award winner at the ‘2023 MAMA Awards’, receiving ‘Best Dance Performance Male Solo’ and ‘Best Collaboration’. Internationally, he was the first Korean solo artist to win the ‘Song of Summer’ category at the ‘2023 MTV Video Music Awards’ and won two awards, ‘Best Song’ and ‘Best K-Pop’, at the ‘2023 MTV Europe Music Awards’. He also won the ‘Top Global K-Pop Song’ category at the ‘2023 Billboard Music Awards’. His first solo album ‘GOLDEN’ became a ‘double million seller’ within five hours of its release, setting a new record for the highest first-week sales by a K-pop solo artist. As of the 17th of last month, it had sold over 2.5 million copies, becoming the first solo album to surpass 2.5 million sales since the Hanteo Chart revised its counting method in 2010.
