TWS, Debut Album Sells Over 400,000 Copies… Proving to Be the Trending Newcomer

The group TWS, consisting of members Sin Yoo, Do Hoon, Young Jae, Han Jin, Ji Hoon, and Kyung Min, has shone as the trending newcomer by selling over 400,000 copies of their debut album.

According to the album sales tracking site Hanteo Chart, TWS’s first mini album “Sparkling Blue” (including both the standard and Weverse editions) had sold 406,262 copies as of March 21st. Considering that the initial sales in the first week of release on January 22nd were 268,811, it means that in less than two months following the initial count, an additional approximately 140,000 copies were sold.

After concluding their promotional activities, TWS continued to create a sensation with their album title track, “The First Meeting Didn’t Go as Planned”, which won first place on SBS’s “Inkigayo” on March 24th. As a result, TWS achieved five music show wins with their debut album. The track has topped daily charts on Bugs, Apple Music Korea, and continues to rank high on major domestic and international music charts like Melon, Bugs, Flo, Genie, and YouTube Music, demonstrating enduring popularity.

This trend signifies the public resonance with TWS’s unique genre of “Boyhood Pop,” characterized by lyrics that evoke the beautiful sentiments of boyhood and a refreshing melody. Their performances, featuring youthful attire such as school looks, city boy looks, and training looks, along with their bubbly and fresh style, continue to be a topic of discussion among K-pop fans. TWS is expanding their reach with a friendly and positive image, engaging in various activities like their original content “TWS:CLUB” and initiating dance challenges on short-form platforms. Having signed with labels under Universal Music Group (UMG), Geffen Records, and Universal Music Japan’s Virgin Music, all eyes are on TWS as they potentially lead the fifth generation of K-pop.
